Song and a Smile

Nolan's Christmas program was held at Good Shepherd Preschool today. His class is made up of three and four year olds, of which he is one of the youngest. Nolan's comparative rank in age is not typically perceivable except on rare occasions. Today's program just such an occasion.

The program started off with a collective song comprised of all age groups, bells in hand, singing 'Jingle Bells' while their teachers worked to prop each child into position. Most children entered with a searching smile, examining the audience for Mom or Dad's face. Nolan's face had 'nap' written all over it. He carried his bells like a briefcase, low and still, moping to the platform.

Nolan's class was among those who sat after the opening song, listening to the individual class's performances. When Nolan's class was up to sing, the boys and girls took the stage.

When they were done singing, 'Behold The Lamb,' Nolan spotted us in the auditorium and left his class behind, coming to Michelle and I. We held him as his class sang some of their songs. His mood shifted when Michelle suggested that he could see himself 'on the computer' tonight if he wanted to continue singing. It did the trick!

I hope you enjoy this as much as we did, both the music and the transformation of attitude. We're proud of our Nolan Charles! More pictures below.

Take care,

Paul

SNOWFLAKES ARE FALLING.....

Last year's snow angels! (Mariah, Nolan, & Jacob)

Guess what? SNOW IS COMING!! Wahoo! Actually, it's kind of a bummer since we have a lot of plans for tomorrow. So many of us are praying it won't be as bad as they are saying. My kids are not supporting those prayers though; they are excited to PLAY in it! Ha! If our plans do get canceled tomorrow, we will have a lot of baked goods here to pass out to someone. (Come on over!) Here's the link to our local news station to keep updated on our weather if you are interested! Ha, ha....I know, weather blog talk....boring!
UPDATE: We received 6-8 inches of snow in Fort Wayne. I measured our most level area of our yard and it was covered in 7 inches of snow! Everything was canceled today so our neighbors were blessed with the baked goods I made for our parties! It's a gorgeous day!

American Red Cross

AMERICAN RED CROSS

We donated blood yesterday. Paul is really good at doing it consistantly; however I am not. I don't think I had given blood for 10 years. I'm glad I went and will plan on doing it more consistantly with Paul. Did you know that it's really good for you to do this? Especially for men! You not only are helping to save lives, but in the process you are helping yourself. It's been researched to help reduce heart attacks-in men mostly since they do not get a monthly visitor. :) Anyway, I know the Red Cross is always looking for donators. Please consider it, especially since they are always in high need at this time of the year. You can visit their website at http://www.givelife.org/ to find your local Red Cross. Blessings! ~Mich

Our Christmas Tree Tradition

Paul (Aaron) and I started a tradition the year before we got married. On Christmas Eve we would exchange Christmas ornaments with each other. We carried this tradition on for the last 13 years of marriage. With 3 children, we all have gained a lot of ornaments each. Our children look forward to what ornaments they will get from each individual in our family. They love going shopping for their ornament gifts, too. It's been a very special tradition. It's funny to think back to our very first Christmas tree. It was so plain & empty since we didn't have many ornaments. Now our tree overflows! We giggled this year that we might need to purchase another tree next year just to FIT all of these ornaments. I can't say enough, "How much Paul and I love to look at each ornament and remember the memories it holds!"

So, this is our Christmas Tree this year, minus this Christmas Eve's ornaments. The picture does not do it justice, but every ornament holds a glimpse into each individual of our family for the year it was given. Just precious!

Winter Is Here!

Michelle took pictures of last night's ice storm. The rain has continued through the day. It's a beautiful sight.
